Our delegation attended the 2019 IACBE Annual Meeting in the United States

From April 9 to 11, executive vice president Zeng Zhixin, vice president Lin Ying, dean of the International Business School and director of International Education and Exchange Center, Wu Liguang, and directors of the IACBE accreditation discipline (International Economics and Trade, Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing) together formed a delegation of 8 people to attend the 2019 IACBE (International Accreditation Council for Business Education) Annual Meeting in the United States. The delegation attended the Annual Meeting and various sub-forums, exchanged and shared business school-running practices with representatives of member institutions from all over the world, and met with the IACBE accreditation committee and relevant leaders in Asia to discuss the regional development of IACBE.

On April 10, the delegation led by Zeng Zhixin, Lin Ying met with Dr. Fred Chilson, chairman of the IACBE Board of Directors, and Dr. Phyllis Okrepkie, chairman of the IACBE accreditation committee, to discuss the next step of accreditation application and deepen cooperation between the two sides. Zeng Zhixin said that since GCU became the first university in China to obtain the IACBE accreditation, it has had close exchanges with many other high-level universities in China. In order to promote the development of IACBE in East Asia, especially in China, GCU hopes to carry out closer cooperation with IACBE. Dr. Chilson said that IACBE attached great importance to the work of the Guangzhou College of SCUT, and hoped to promote the modernization and internationalization of business education in China and even in East Asian universities through the guidance and radiation of the Guangzhou College of SCUT.

On the same day, our delegation also participated in the IACBE Asia meeting. After the election, Zeng Zhixin, executive vice president of GCU, was elected as vice president of IACBE in Asia. And at the same time, the meeting confirmed that GCU will hold the IACBE Asia Meeting in the autumn of 2020. It represents another important step in our international accreditation work, which is helpful to the innovation and development of our business major, the promotion of our accreditation results, and the enhancement of our reputation and influence in China and even in East Asia.

On April 11, our delegation attended the 2018 New Full Membership Recognition Ceremony, and during the ceremony, Dr. Laurie Yates, chairman of the IACBE Review Committee, announced the decision to all delegates that GCU gained a full membership in 2018. In addition to GCU, a total of 10 institutions from Sweden, the United States etc. have obtained full membership of IACBE for the first time, including Bethel Business School, University of Washington, Virginia, etc. By 2018, there are a total of 231 full-membership universities and colleges of IACBE worldwide, among which GCU is the first and the only one in China.

The theme of the IACBE annual meeting is "Future Development of Business Education". The three-day meeting includes keynote speeches, group discussions, accreditation workshops, etc., with more than 300 representatives from over 165 member institutions around the world attended the meeting.
